Amazon's 15.6-inch Echo Show 15 now works like a more standard smart TV, after announcing Sling TV support. This is based on recent reports detailing the announcement made earlier this week. And the news isn't just great for those with the largest Echo-powered display, either. Amazon also says that other Echo Show devices will receive an update to enable Sling TV in the future.
How does Sling TV integrate with the Amazon Echo Show 15?
Now, accessing Sling TV couldn't be easier on the Amazon Echo Show 15 either. It is fully integrated via voice commands just like many other screen features. So users can simply say "Alexa, open Sling TV" to start the service. Or use the onscreen icons and touch interactions.
Once launched, the matter of logging in and deciding what you want to watch is simple. Or by asking Alexa to "watch" a specific channel or "Sling" content with voice commands.
Of course, users will need a Sling TV subscription to get started as well.
Plans start at $35 per month with Orange, Blue, or Orange and Blue plans available. For those who may not be aware, Orange is best described as a lover of sports and family entertainment. While Blue is moving more towards entertainment and general news. The latter also comes with streaming for up to three devices simultaneously while Orange offers only one. As with the combined plan, offered for $50 per month. A three-day trial is also available in any category.
When will this come to other Echo Show devices?
As noted above, Amazon has not specified when other Echo Show devices will be supported. But Sling TV adds a lot of value, with up to 50 channels and on-demand content as well as up to 50 hours of DVR recording. This stacks on top of the current shows on the Echo Show. Including the likes of Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, Tubi, Food Network Kitchen and Red Bull TV. So it may be worth considering for those who already have the hardware.
